Ina Wecken is a filmmaker from Basel Switzerland. Originally having studied Biology at the University of Exeter, she discovered filmmaking only in later years during her travels in South America, where she ended up staying for various years experimenting with her camera. After her return to Switzerland during the pandemic she continued making films and delved into analog photography. In 2022 she visited film school in Prague where she discovered her love for experimental films.
Ina’s works are very much emotionally driven and portray projections of inner dialogues. Her works question social constructs and explore themes of absurdism, spirituality, femininity, reproduction and the concept of morality. Her films are heavily influenced by personal experiences and her own interpretation of the world around her. A firm believer of questioning everything, she aims to capture some of the bizarre thoughts and emotions that swell inside her through the medium of film.
